I grew up in an avant garde rock band discovered by John Peel.. I use the same experimental approach to photography.
I resist using photoshop as it removes any sense of reality, I just rely on my attraction to potential.

The first photos I took with my digital slr were printed in 'THE HILL', THE GROVE and THE VILLAGE magazines, in favour of the officially employed photographer. Also credits in London Lite, Richmond and Twickenham Times and London PA magazine.

The photographs in their raw state offer a distinct empathy, honest approach and strong dialogue with his subject matter. He has an acute eye for staging lighting both naturally and artificially to accentuate mood and quality.
Raj has an exciting way of organising a photo-shoot using the environment around him in a resourceful manner. He likes to echo colours in the subject matter or the foreground with objects in the background creating a holistic, staged setting. He has a natural flare for composition with his keen desire for the design of the photograph as an entire entity. The photographs present themselves with a vibrancy of colour and have an intense atmosphere to them. The outcome can make a simple brief into a more dynamic and inclusive visual world on its own.

I have worked with him on several occasions. Not only, is Raj exciting, energetic and inspiring to work with, but he always proposes innovative ideas for visualising a brief effectively. Raj Curry develops the process of recording artwork or people to a more intriguing and engaging level.

Nothing I could write could get vaguely close enough to giving Raj's pictures the justice they deserve...even someone with a far more stunning vocabulary than mine would struggle to capture the emotion and awe I felt when I saw the results of my first photo shoot.
The reason I was so moved to distraction I think lies not only in Raj's obvious technical skill, but in his ability to capture that etheral quality that a lot of pictures lack. I felt like I had been photographed inside out and it quite literally brought tears to my eyes!
So to all the normal people out there who want to be made to feel beautiful (even those who are 'camera-shy and unphotogenic' as I believed I was) and can handle having their soul mirrored straight back at them, I wouldn't recommend anyone else.
